As leaders of our companies we have a fiduciary responsibility to our investors and our clients. It is no longer acceptable to be unaware of the weaknesses in our organizations and in particular, weaknesses in the defense of our mission critical technologies and assets. For many years as our reliance on technology has increased to the point of the total dependency for customer relations management, business core processing, and accounting, our obligations to maintaining this infrastructure have equally increased.
Yet, while enormous focus on “security” has become all the rage, the true definition of what security must absolutely have to mean has somehow become fully accepted, standard operating procedure (SOP) despite it being a definition that is grossly incomplete. The IT dependant world has secured its access, its electrical suite, mechanical, and suppression exposures; is deploying methodologies for systemic or logical security breaches; but, this same world has somehow overlooked its need to secure the most basic component of every mission critical operation – the facility itself. Instead of the floor, walls, and ceiling simply being the space in which technologies and assets are housed, these structural attributes have to be used to provide protection, not just space.
Today, we are more vulnerable than ever to a wide array of unforeseen, yet ever present and damaging events. And even with this awareness we continue to make decisions that leave our technology centers completely exposed. We continue to build on ground floors, near window banks, under kitchens, in flood zones, and in closets with limited provisional controls.
At iFortress, we are committed to providing absolute structural security™ products and solutions.
